Rumi

I highly recommended trying Rumi. It’s a small restaurant but has a big taste menu. I recommend the lamb skewers and minced lamb skewers. Beautifully cooked Persian food with the decor and ambiance to match.

The setting was perfect, the staff very attentive and the food was delicious. We will definately visit the next time we are in Auckland. A lovely evening.

I happened across Rumi because the restaurant interior was striking, ornate, exotic and beautiful from the outside and it drew me in. I was excited to try Persian cuisine for the first time and the waiter/Manager was very attentive and prompt in his service. Their menu is accompanied with a picture book so you can what each dish looks like and the history of this gorgeous family restaurant is elaborated.

To begin with, I tried the Kashk Bademjan which was an eggplant mint and onion dip served with Persian bread and it was very pleasant. My main was the Zereshk Polo, slow cooked marinated chicken leg served in Persian rice with a crisp salad and a spiced gravy and barberries. This dish was lovely and had a homely feel to it and the barberries were a stand out.

As an introduction to Persian food, I highly recommend Rumi!
