Ostro Restaurant & Bar

After much anticipation, I finally dined at Ostro. The restaurant is simply elegant and super stylish as you enter through modest industrial like corridors and staircase to the warm bustling ambiance of the bar to the right and the dining area to the left. Staff was exceptional, so warm, inviting and highly engaging.

We ordered the seafood platter to begin with the king fish crudo and tuna tataki served with red wine vinegar and truffle oil being the impressive standouts along with the banana prawns accompanied with sriracha mayo.

To follow on we ordered the lobster and snapper pie with cos salad with candied hazel nuts and Parmesan beignets. The pie was delightful with chunky pieces of fish and lobster and a crispy potato topping. We enjoyed delicious bottles of Mt Beautiful Pinot Noir from South Canterbury.

For dessert, we finished off with a chocolate mousse with poached pear and cheese platter featuring blue vein, Brie and a cheddar with grapes with crostini and lavosh served with accompaniments of quince, honeycomb and plum.

The entire dining experience was highly memorable from wonderful service, gorgeous cuisine and amazing wine. Highly recommended with distinction!

Great food (especially the oysters!) service and views. Pricey but worth it.
