Mexico Restaurant Britomart

I was expecting more from this place in terms of food - having heard rave reviews from people, I went with high hopes. The decor is cool, the wait staff are good, and the drinks (although a little pricey) are great - but the food ranged from quite nice to quite awful. It's the only place I've been to in years where we haven't even wanted to finish a lot of the dishes - the desserts in particular were flavourless and rubbery. I was very disappointed!
On the other hand, if you're just looking for a drink or two and maybe some corn chips and guacamole, this is an awesome place to go.

Great spot for a catch up and really enjoy the drinks the most. Everything is probably best shared as portions sizes are on the small scale of things.

I recently went to Mexico for dinner with a small group of friends. We decided to share a few plates between us. I would recommend doing this as the portions are quite small and this also gives you an opportunity to try different plates. They also have a range of margaritas, I would recommend black plum and cinnamon.

I enjoy the setting of Mexico-the inside is warm and welcoming. An excellent location to meet friends or for a date.

Mexico offers a fun twist on classic Mexican food! This location, in particular, has great service and a fantastic ambience. The Braised pork belly burger is to die for!

One of my favourite new discoveries! The food is so delicious (I am a vegetarian) and really well priced. I always order two dishes, like an entree and a main, as the mains aren't big. But because of the pricing you can order two dishes and still spend less than what you would somewhere else. It's perfect because you can try a few different dishes. My partner and I went there recently and spent $70, which got us three entrees, two mains and a margarita jug. And we overate. The times I have been there it has been overcrowded really, the tables are very close together and space is very limited. It has always been really dark as well, my partner and I could not read our menu and had to ask for the candle on the opposite table, which was taken off us once customers filled the table, so we had to squint to read the menu in the dark. The service from the wait staff is nothing amazing, but the food comes out so fast! I had to ask if they had prepared the meals earlier and then heated them up but they said they definitely do not pre-prepare any of their meals. If there was more space and more light in the restaurant it would get 5 stars from me!
