Cassia

Following much anticipation, we finally visited Cassia to try their 6 Course Tasting menu. The restaurant was very intimate appearing, slightly below ground level like a concrete majestic cavern alight with industrial bulbs hanging from the ceiling. The staff was impressively attentive and the ambiance was lively with a wide variety of patrons.

Besides Antipodes sparkling, I tired a glass of Californian Cupcake Red Velvet Zinfandel and it was simply gorgeous.

Our courses started off with Pani Purri as amuse bouche then Pumpkin with smoked yoghurt, tamarind and poppy seed, which was scintillating on the palate. Out next was the Prawns with coriander sesame and lime and this was my favorite dish as the textures were divine, vibrant flavours complementing the delicate meaty flesh.

In lieu of the Goan lamb chop with leek and parsnip which I learned was lovely, I had a Fish Marsala which was amazing and beautifully spiced. The next dish was the Tandori chicken with fenugreek and curry leaves with garlic naan. This dish was lovely and hearty.

For the closing dessert dishes, the Feijoa with saffron and yoghurt which was the highlight dish of the entire menu followed by a palate cleanser of Pineapple with cashew and coriander. This was a delightful close to the menu.

Overall, our dining experience was exceptional from service, beverage to the cuisine. It was a highly elevated contemporary Indian cuisine dining experience well worth the long anticipation. I look forward to visiting again having experience an insightful orientation of the menu. Highly recommended with distinction!

Never tasted food so good. From walking in and absorbing the smells and the amazing customer service, it truly is an experience. We did the tasting menu as we were unsure what to order and i HIGHLY recommenced this. We have a handful of cocktails as well. Well worth money and cant wait to go back

We decided to go with the Taste of India tasting menu. So many delicious courses, served with enough time to relax between courses. The execution of the plates is next level. This would have to be one of the nicest restaurants in Auckland

Fine dining at its best. The only thing I dont like is the price. Such a warm dining atmosphere and excellent customer service.

What a spectacular dining experience.. ! Well done Cassia, the food was a memorable experience . The menu and wine suggested by the staff made the evening even more exquisite, loved every minute of it . Staff were helpful , courteous and meal ample size with generous takeaways to go. Thank you from the south. We will be back for sure.
