General Info

The legacy which The Stables Restaurant and Wine Bar aims to achieve is very simple. We want to provide our customers with a memorable dining experience in timeless surroundings. Arrowtown is an extremely special town with loads of history and character, and The Stables Restaurant and Wine Bar guarantees that you will feel the spirit of the town when you dine with us. Feel transported back to 1873 the moment you enter the dining areas. Enjoy intimate dining, or become one of our numerous customers who have created friendships with fellow diners. The Stables Restaurant and Wine Bar has a large outdoor courtyard dining area, great for people watching and alfesco dining in summer when daylight continues up to 10pm, or on beautiful sunny days in winter enjoy dining whilst marveling at the snow capped mountains. Inside, the restaurant hosts two dining rooms. Originally the hay store and the barn, and now totally transformed, the upstairs area is perfect for an intimate meal in front of the fire place or for large groups, whilst the downstairs area hosts an original pot belly fire and plenty of memorabilia of times gone by, perfect for groups of two to four. In keeping with its heritage, our chefs create classic comfort dishes with a twist. We do our best to source all of our ingredients locally, and Central Otago wine is a passion for our floor team. All tastes are catered for including families with a Children¿s Menu. We are open for Lunch and Dinner from 11am (hours may differ in May and June). The Stables Restaurant is fully licensed. We accept all major credit cards ¿ Mastercard, Visa, Diners Club and American Express. Parking is free in Arrowtown, and there is normally plenty of it. Try Buckingham Street first, and then Ramshaw Lane, both very close to The Stables. Dress Code is Smart Casual.

This place is reminiscent of the old goldminers' place. Dark and cozy inside, it offers a log cabin-like exterior. the menu offers a soups, salads, burgers, fish and chips, a few steaks and lamb, with a selection of sides. Classic, basic, heavy desserts and all kinds of beverages area available to accompany the meal. There is a separate kid's menu

The food was okay nothing special. Sticky date pudding was burnt. Blue cheese sauce that came with the steak was the highlight of the meal. Potato’s were roasted in duck fat but were not crispy at all. Pork belly was average.

This place is soooo good. Beautiful outdoor setting, great friendly service and omg the food...easily in the top 10 meals I've ever eaten. I had the rib eye steak in a garlic butter with potatoes roasted in duck fat. We also shared the broccoli which came with almonds. Would definitely recommend.
