A few months ago I went to West City Holden to look at buying a new vehicle. I was called the dealership and asked if they had a particular vehicle available to test drive and the person who answered the phone said yes. I turned up at the dealership and was immediately helped by a nice salesman. Suddenly another salesman came along and said he had had first contact and quite rudely pushed the other salesman aside to take over. We went for a test drive with Jimmy the second salesman. The whole time he rubbished all of the other brands of vehicles. When we got back to the dealership we sat down to nut out prices. He gave us a price for the vehicle and all extras. I asked for a quote on paper and he said they could no do that. He took a photo with my phone and that was it. The whole thing felt quite unprofessional so we decided to try Giltrap North Shore. We sat down with a salesman there who immediately offered us a cup of tea (which was nice). He gave us a price which happened to come out $1000 less than what we would have spent for the same vehicle at West City. Also the colour that we wanted we could not get at West City but North Shore accessed it easily. We signed up and bought the vehicle on the spot. That evening I got a phone call from Jimmy at West City. He asked if we had bought a crappy Isuzu. I said no - we had bought a Colorado. He asked where from and I told him - he asked what colour and I told him. He said he didnt believe that they could access that colour because he couldnt. I said they had already ordered it and it was coming from down country. He then proceeded to abuse me. He said he was angry as he had done all the work and how dare we go to another dealership. I said I had felt uneasy especially since he could not give me anything in writing with a quote. All other salesyards that we had been to gave us something on their letterhead and had nothing to hide. We love our holden and are happy we bought one but would never ever go to West City Holden for our next one. I looked at the reviews on yellow pages and could not believe my eyes when I saw that most of their good reviews were from the staff and not actually customers - Jimmy Tailor, General Sales Manager and Trushar Maisuria, Marketing Co-ordinator. Since our experience we have heard numerous people who have nothing good to say about West City Holden Sales Department. It is a shame as Holden is such a good vehicle.
I went in at 8.30am to hand the car keys over for a new key (that they lost after I gave in to get fixed almost 4-5 months ago) to get programmed. The receptionist was very rude. They initially told us they did not have a job sheet for our car that they booked in the week before! Got annoyed at us that they could not find it. Once they did find it, told me they would not be giving the car back until the next day! So apparently an hours job takes 24hours to get done. I would not have a bar of it as I would not have been able to drive home to the other side of Auckland. I did not leave until I could get my car back on the day. It EVENTUALLY did work out. They did not apologise for the inconvenience nor their lack of customer service skills. I would not recommend Westcity Holden to anyone.
