I purchased a Grabone voucher for this salon and very nearly didn't go after my first time walking in. I received a disdained look from the older man here upon entering the salon and tried booking in for the consultation (it was after a long days work and I went in wearing shorts and a tee). He didn't take my name or number (which I thought was weird but perhaps that's how they do it at Vivo) and said that I would be able to come at 1pm the next day (great!). Got there the next day and was told no booking was made for me and that they were busy (however, they did squeeze me in for 2 hours later - the girl was very apologetic. The old man didn't care). I have since been assured that said man is actually very nice, but I beg to differ.
I assumed they knew their Grabone offers (I was wrong, but that's on me). The issue I take is with my cut. The colour I have received is nice, but the cut is lacklustre. I showed the hairdresser the style that I wanted. I got a 'snip-snip' of not very much when it was wet and very little taken off when it was dry. I then asked for more to be taken off, and very little changed. My pre-paid style cut was actually just a trim. So much for that voucher then - I paid more than what I would have normally for a global colour and trim.
Positives: The other people that I dealt with in that salon were lovely, unfortunately, one was from the Ponsonby salon and he was the one that I had the most contact with. The atmosphere was nice, if a bit quiet (no music) and they were happy to help and direct you to things like magazines.
Overall: If you're a student or low-wage worker (or both), don't bother with this particular Vivo. The disdained looks you will surely receive are just not worth it for the price you pay. However, if you like talkative hairdressers, who I'm sure do know their thing, go for it (although, again, my hairdresser was from the Ponsonby branch). You'll still look good at the end of a visit - it just might not be exactly what you wanted.
