Staff at Starship do an amazing job. They're helpful, friendly, caring and really walk you through the process of what they're doing. However they are understaffed/overworked. We had to wait for about an hour to see the nurse, then another hour or so to see the doctor.
Being a first time parent, emergency hospital visits with your new born child can be worrying, nerve breaking and traumatic. For me, It was the nursing staffs and assistants whom we came across at the ward that made huge difference to us. They genuinly listened to our concerns and provided reassurance and care we desperately needed at the time.
Long wait times to see staff, but once you do, they're generally very helpful, caring and professional. Their nurses were fantastic at trying to make what was a very upsetting time more pleasant by offering to take my newborn baby for walks around the wards so that I could sleep (even for an hour), and making our stay more comfortable by moving us to a bigger and better room with our own bathroom.
