We always stop here when passing through Murchison. The food and coffee are delicious and there's plenty of seating both inside and outside. It is VERY pricey for a café in the middle of nowhere (you can expect to pay about $60-$70 for lunch for a family) but it is a lovely spot.
Two visits this past holiday. A wonderful lemon muffin (it was so yellow nearly glowed in the dark but was delicious) and a Chicken and cranberry bagel, a little disappointing the bagel wasn't listed as pumpkin seeded but was still an enjoyable bite and given the opportunity would order again. Just on a different bagel.
Their location is perfect to stop when you are traveling between Nelson and Christchurch. They have a little playground where your children can stretch and run around. Good selection of ice cream too. However, I found their food selection is a bit boring.
