A touristy spot with refurbished facilities and spaces for everyone. Can get noisey during busy times but still an absolutely wonderful place with spaces for everyone. There is a pool facing the great outdoors. There was one pool with dead skin and unimaginable matter floating around but still a nice place to go. On the pricey side but fair enough if it is a major tourist attraction.
We love Polynesian Spas and cannot rave about it enough to anyone who will listen. We never miss it on a trip to rotorua or even if we are passing through. Such a great setting, love the delux spas and the wide selection of pools and temps. Great gift shop at the entry, clean changing rooms and close free parking
The timing of your visit can make all the difference to the experience that you get at the spa (it can get extremely packed and unpleasant at times). As a local, you soon learn when to avoid the pools. If you're looking for peace and quiet then mornings are usually a good bet.
In the adult area there are plenty of pools of various temperatures to sit in. Although there are drinking fountains, it's best to come prepared with a bottle of water. The family pool is big enough to swim in provided there are not too many people. The temperature is constant at around 33 degrees celsius which in my opinion is just perfect.
A word of advice for ladies wanting to dry your hair, bring your own hairdryer!
These hot pools are fantastic! The private pools which are open to sulphur point are really amazing, however you do need a minimum of 2 people in them for safety reasons. The spa services are fabulous too. There is a range of special massages to choose from and they are just wonderful. There is also a lovely gift shop which sells all sorts of swim wear, gifts, treats and treatments. And the café does a great smoothie!
