Sunday was a lovely day for a ladies' lunch with brilliant sunshine and the breeze coming in from the harbour - you just can't beat seeing water while you eat. It was a casual day and the service was attentive but supported the laid back atmosphere.
Starting with cocktails (Raided and Traided for me with just the right hint of coconut in the Tequila) and a great selection from the raw bar and then moving onto the mains the food was gorgeous as always. And then because there was no rush we could take a break and order dessert including the modern take on a Bombe Alaska with refreshing citrus flavours. It is days like this that I remember why I love summer.
Service was good but food wasn't all that. Steak came out cold and uncooked when i asked for medium. We ordered chips and got one small bowl between 4. We wasn't worried about the price as company was paying but have to say food wasn't great. Nice ambiance and well dressed restaurant on a positive side but when entertaining clients from Oz wasn't too impressed and wont be returning.
Stunning food and views. I had the most amazing date here (may have been influenced by the company as well) with great service and a lovely team. The restaurant lift is a little awkward to get to from Tyler street but a wonderful experience in total. Would love to go there again soon.
Stewart Island Oysters-OMG!!!!! I didn't think it was possible to improve on the perfect mollusc. Had my first Ostro experience the other night. Spectacular food. Apart from my companion going embarrassingly postal over some initially slow service the evening was awesome. The Manager immediately addressed our concerns, provided a glass of champagne and upsized our deserts (magic cheese board for me). All sins forgiven. Definitely the sort of place where the people watching is very entertaining. A place like this would also bring back the long, long lunch :-).
