Get broadband and phone from NZ's award winning telecommunications and Internet service provider.
Pretty good service overall from these guys, have seen a drop in speed over the past year which is a shame as they are on the expensive side.
Unfortunately we have terminated our contract and gone elsewhere. Continuous billing errors, lack of proper Wifi and their customer service needs work.
We are currently with Orcon and haven't had an technical problems or issues. Service on the phone isn't the best i was spoken to a little bit rudely by one of the CSR and hung up on. Otherwise great internet company and very speedy fibre no issues and good value for money.
We have had our internet with orcon for years, excellent service and does not often go down. Unlimited and really good speeds. Only downside is it is expensive.
I'm just only new with orcon so far I never had a problem its cheap value for money and great quality customer service
Been with orcon for approx 6 or more years. Never any issues. Connected very quickly with moving.
The plans are cheap but my service was so slow should have just got dial up have since moved companies
They are good and we have their plan for the fibre. Sometimes the net could be slower so I hope they can pick up their fame but don't know who to blame for speed not so fast. We are paying not that high amount and we are generally very happy with their service and their call centre assistance when we need it.
We used orcon as an excellent provider and still now use them as email provider as they let you kerp your email address for life. We only moved on due to being offered a better deal that they couldnt match.
Have been with Orcon for a year and half. I love the cheap unlimited plans, and the minutes deals, but the internet can be slow at times if more than one person is using it. Also, a few times we've lost internet and had to wait for days for it to be fixed.
It would appear that Orcon are currently having a number of issues with their email servers being blacklisted by other NZ servers (namely default-rdns.vocus.co.nz), due to the increasing number of spam emails that are being sent from or through Orcon servers. The call centre (located in the Phillipines) advised that it is a known problem and has been on-going for a number of weeks - but had no idea as to when this would be resolved.
The result is that any emails sent by an orcon subscriber (or email user) will be rejected as spam (regardless of whether it is a valid email).
Orcon has not been forthcoming with this information to its customers and is at pains to avoid the issue being made public.
Shocking Service from Orcon.
I have been a customer of theirs for almost 5years now and had slow ADSL connection but no real problems for all that time. I have recently (last 2 & half months) had my international calling give me this message “your call cannot be connected at this time” this is to all numbers outside NZ.
I have supplied them with test numbers (10 of them) on 4 occasions they go away and after 2 weeks come back and say all working we are going to close the ticket. I test and you guessed it exact same result. And not ever even one apology!!
It obviously affects my business as I cannot call AUS or my oversees family, this is frustrating as my dad who has been sick in South Africa. I Have had to resort to paying Skype to dial the landline and mobile numbers internationally.
All you get from Orcon are their call center agents who can do nothing for you and cannot request any real people or managers to discuss the issue with you. Orcon also is quite shy with not providing physical addresses etc on their web site? Yet are quite happy to continue to charge the $30 extra for the service a month. and if i want to cancel because they cannot provide me with the service, they want to charge me early termination fees as 5 months ago I upgraded to VDSL.
All in all this has been the most frustrating “customer service” I have ever received and highlights how they don’t care about their customer just the cash, if you are thinking of using Orcon don’t!
Much better than my previous provider. Currently have a fibre plan with them and it seems to be cheaper than what other providers can offer. Though there was a recent price increase...so may need to revisit this. Otherwise good service.
Decent service. Worth the money.
Have been battling for 3 months to get our account sorted. Internet was connected with only 11 day left in the month and they tried to say that we our first month free. Got them to agree this was not right and got a credit 2 months later but our account then said we had an outstanding amount on it even tho we are direct debit. Received numerous emails and letter about restriction of service etc. After over 2 hours on the phone to them over 2 days I thought it was sorted and about 30min after finally hanging up from them I get a txt to say our internet would be block the next day which was the day the direct debit would come out.
NO NZ customer service all overseas based. No chance to talk to anyone directly. Tried over facebook and they said they only work over the phone.
Been with them for many years. They have good speeds, are priced more fairly now than they were a few years ago. Their unlimited plan in a Godsend for our house! And while I wish they had more people in their call centre to answer the phones a bit quicker, when someone does answer, I've usually found the service to be very friendly and helpful.
Much better then slingshot. Service can still be abit slow but over all am happy with orcons connection and broadband.
Generally a really good provider - certainly advantageous if you've got an Android phone to take advantage of the Genius Go (it's a bit iffy on iOS / Apple devices).
Just try to avoid using their email services (go with a Gmail address or its like instead) as their servers keep getting blacklisted and customer service in that situation is appalling!!
orcon is the best internet provider I have ever had to deal with they always make sure im on the best plan and the customer sevice has got 10 times better
Lets face it they've had issues with their home voip solutions but that's the same with all the other Telco's. They are a great company built on the hopes and dreams of an owner that was bread out of IHug and that was a great company too. Highly recommended.
