Beautiful hotel that despite its age still functions admirably. Clean and comfortable rooms with great beds and linen, meaning a very comfortable stay. Can highly recommend the amazing Eight restaurant with a number of buffet stations that cook your food to order - the food is REALLY good. Cheaper to go for lunch than for dinner, and cheaper on weekdays than on weekends - if you're looking to save a few dollars. Parking is available using valet parking or in the car park next door - it's not cheap, will cost you $10 - $15 for a typical lunch stay. Bus stop at the door, which saves parking hassles.
The hotel itself has an amazing ballroom that is very popular for functions. It's an amazing space with excellent service, and a great night out.
Have stayed here a number of times over the last few years and it never fails to offer a relaxing, luxurious experience. I personally feel that this is the best hotel in Auckland - there may be other newer, flashier kids on the block, but the service here is impeccable - not imposing, or pretentious but just knowledgeable, friendly and pre-emptive. This is an oasis of calm in a busy city, but so handy for all Auckland has to offer.
We enjoyed our overnight stay at Langham this summer – the phone request for an extra bathrobe was met promptly, the outdoor pool area was small but well equipped with a changing room with snail shower and ice bowl for spa therapy. The late night snack at the Winery was relaxing and the breakfast at Eight offers huge variety of food. I forgot to make a call for the valet parking on my way out so there was a bit of wait.
I'm such a Langham fan that it pains me to write a less than perfect review. But the Auckland Langham is very tired, and could do with one enormous refresh. First, the good: my treatments at the spa were high quality and well worth the money. The spa atmosphere is heavenly. I felt welcome to stay and relax for as long as I wanted, and all the staff were exemplary in their customer service skills. Swimming beneath a starry night sky in the outdoor pool was a memorable experience. My room was beside a lift shaft and I could not sleep for the noise of the grinding. As the hotel was full, I couldn’t be moved; to be fair to the hotel, they refunded me 50% the following morning on check out. The rooms (especially the bathrooms) are so old and tired that I can't give more than three stars. I'd still go back, but knowing what to expect, so my high expectations (from staying at other Langhams in the world) are tempered.
The Langham lives up to it's 5 star rating. It's an exceptional hotel with exceptional dining.
The staff are more than willing to help with your every need and the bed and linens are the most comfortable I've ever slept in.
Make sure you take advantage of their special offers and packages on their website and include breakfast at eight.
If you manage to get a night away close to Christmas their gingerbread display is a must see!
Fantastic! stayed over night celebrating a major birthday as a treat. Ended up enjoying their spa and resteraunt facilities. They were very accomodating with the tender state I was in and offered great service from check in through to check out :)
A culinary journey it most definitely is! Experience a range of cuisines, all you can eat! The christmas package is great for corporate team lunches there is guaranteed to be something to please everyone.
