About 12 to 15 months ago I begun sourcing the services of a Draftsman to work closely with both my and their ideology to draw up plans for a future decking with a gable roof over it to which it protrudes from the exiting roof, over an existing flat roof and then the deck roof proper. The ridge beam would span about 13.5 mts in total and the deck roof about 7.5 mtrs x 7.5 mtrs with a workable area of 56.25 m2. The second ideology was to draw up plans for a new 9 x 6 mtr garage attached to the existing at an angle of 135 degree to the front opening. At the time I obtained a number of both written and verbal quotations where some of those appeared to be workable on paper, but with further liaison and consultation, those quotations were either not sustainable or well over priced.
I continued my search and when I consulted with "John Design" I immediately found that I could work closely with that draftsman. Our interactions was mainly by correspondence and emails as I was residing overseas at that time. "John Design" visited the property a number of times at my request, on each of those visits, we both built our ideas and not to mention too, that "John Designs" had made a number of alterations to the finished plans in some cases already signed off be an Engineering company, all of those alterations were again at my requests.
When I moved back to the property in question in early 2014 my interaction with "John Design" was face to face. When the final plans were ready "John Design", on his own accord accompanied me to the council to submit the plans for approval and to liaise and to field any technical questions pertaining to the plans.
In regards to the standard 20 day target for council plans for approvals, may I happily inform whomever reads this review that the council as we know them as very anal, picky, and difficult in most cases has APPROVED MY APPLICATION with absolutely no requirement of a resubmit in respect to "John. Designs".
Finally in closing, I have never met or have known this company until I contacted him for a quotation. I found this company "John Designs" to be obliging, courteous, happy to visit the said property whenever I had requested, very professional in regards to his plans in fact whilst overseas I took these plans to a professional builder where he stated that they were well detailed and all the builder has to do is read off the plans, the plans he is used to has a lot of detail left off and he has to rely on his own experience to overcome the shortcomings of the plans he works with. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THIS COMPANY IS REASONABLY PRICED as opposed to others.
