We wanted to try out something spicy in Indian style and ordered Madras in extra spice and Vindaloo a Goa cuisine in normal spiciness. The taste, preparation, presentation and the service offered was excellent. They have a reasonable variety of alcoholic beverages+ wine. Atmosphere should have been better. It was bit noisy. Might be because the dine in area is relatively smaller. I hope they offered a good value for money spent.
Great authentic tasting food with wonderful portion sizes. Small restaurant but very good vibes and service. I ended up having a Rogan Josh which was divine. As a starter I had vegetable pakora which was so light and un-greasy that was a HUGE serving. Overall nice and comfy.
We arrived at this restaurant one very late night. We were happy enough to even find a restaurant open at at that hour (1 am) and moreover it was packed and the food absolutely delicious- Punjab served straight to our plate. Our servers managed to secure a table of six for us quite smoothly after a few minutes. We had saag, Makki Di Roti, lassi, Bharta and dal makhani. The food was perfect and even in India you won't find these divine flavours - hats off. Some reviews here mention service. We did not have any problem with service especially considering how busy it was. Very accommodating staff dishing out heavenly Punjabi feast!
small little place easy to be missed. But its a curry delight. If you fancy indian food, this is a must try..
hardly any seating but i guess this is more of a takeaway joint. They run $10 curry specials for 4 days a week. Portion is generous and food is good.
I don't know if Howick Village Diners really need the choice of the five Indian Restaurants that they now have, but they still do need this first-comer. Indian Kitchen curries (especially their butter chicken) are consistently delicious and are always made to the right degree of hotness depending on your choice. The service is freindly and efficent and you will be remembered by name on the subsequent visits that you are sure to make after first tasting their food. My preference is for their great value takeaways but my small gripe is that you have to manoeuvre through the diners in the small restaurant to get to the counter - not really ideal for the diners either. Rearranging or increasing the size of the restaurant may be an idea especially as I'm sure the Indian Kitchen will be one of the long-term stayers in Howick.
I have been a customer for over a year now (was recommended by my brother). I mostly get takeaway. I find the $10 special that runs from Monday to Thursday great value for money ! It is a good portion size and comes with rice. The service is always good and the owner makes the effort to know his customers, The place is always busy. I have recommended this place to my friends who have been and love it. Great work team.
