Food was alright but scored it a 1 because the service was so appalling.
We started off by having to clear and wipe down a free table so we could sit down, didn't mind so much but they were clearly short staffed and there were a few tables which needed to be wiped down. The almond slice looks so good but sadly, over rated, wasn't fresh and tasted like it had been in the fridge for days. The salmon eggs benedict was good but had to wait for 25mns. When my husband approached the teller to check on things they apologized and said that it had been sitting for a while and they could not remember which table number it belonged too grrr… Once i had finished my meal, my husband was still waiting for his toasted deli sandwich. Upon approaching the teller for the second time he was advised that they had lost his order at which point my husband requested that our money be refunded. Seems reasonable enough! The store Manager agreed with the refund and told my husband that he would also give him a complimentary sandwich for his troubles (actually I added all those nice bits, all he said was that he'll give him a free sandwich). Immediately after saying this, he turns to the young female teller and yells at her in front of all of the customers demanding that she explain how she lost my husband's order. She was visibly upset and after feeling empathy for her this was short lived as the store Manager proceeded to walk with my husband to the sandwich display where he grabbed a $5.80 chicken sandwich, handed it to my husband and without even a hint of sincereity or remorse said 'Here, now we are even'.
Had to laugh, this was truly one of the worst customer services that I have experienced and worthy of 1/5 rating. The young male / female tellers were not entirely at fault, the manner in which the store manager handled the situation was completely unprofessional and inconsiderate. I should have listened to my husband who wanted to go to 'Stonebake cafe' and as much as it pains me, having to admit to him that he was in fact right!
