Take a nostalgic journey back in time with a steam train ride through the beautiful Franklin countryside to historic Waiuku, 45 minutes Southwest of Auckland.
For over 35 years the Glenbrook Vintage Railway has been operating with regular journeys between Glenbrook Station and Fernleigh. Steam train journeys take approximately 1 hour and stop off at the Pukeoware Workshops so passengers can view other vintage locomotives and equipment. Hand and motor jigger rides also operate after the train has left Glenbrook Station.
Glenbrook Station is the perfect setting to enjoy a day out with hot and cold food available on operating days, a picnic area and children's playground, and a souvenir shop.
Please visit our website for further details and operating days and times.
What makes us different?
The Glenbrook Vintage Railway is a heritage steam railway. It operates throughout the beautiful rural countryside from Glenbrook to Waiuku, southwest of Auckland. It is the perfect setting for a day out!
A fantastic day with the kids to catch a steam engine; and also look at all the ones they've got at the workshop (where they stop partway through the journey).
Don't forget to check the operating days and times before you go - as they don't run all year round!
Keep a look out for the Thomas the Tank Engine Weekend if you've got kids into Thomas; otherwise avoid that weekend for your visit ;-)
Also worth keeping in mind that you can use to get to the Waiuku Xmas Grotto during the Christmas period - as Waiuku is the other platform.
Would be great to see Auckland Transport run the 'special line' out to them from Papakura more often!
