we went there to celebrate out anniversary dinner and could not have been any better. Every meal is superb and the service is spot on. The staff are friendly and will make you feel comfortable as well as have good wine knowledge. Go for the tasting plates, it's a great dining experience. It's expensive but a great place to go for a special occasion.
Had an amazing dinner here. My friend and did the vegetarian tasting menu. She isn’t vegetarian but we had to get the same so we could discuss it! The food was sublime and the atmosphere and staff exceptional. I would happily come here whenever my finances could manage it.
Make sure you always reserve your booking ahead of time, this is the most upmarket restaurant with faultless service offered. Don't be put off by the main road location, as there is complete privacy once you are inside. Meticulous care with the entire degustation, especially with the seafood pasta and the deserts. All my friends are making their bookings to come back.
Because of the industry that I work in, I am priviledged to be able to dine at the finest restaurants in Auckland. Im a huge fan of seafood, and the crayfish pasta mean is a mega hit with me. So creamy, and lots of crayfish in the meal, definitely worth your spend. I have also tried the raw kingfish, they herbed it with ginger and some other stuff, the ginger gave it a real kick and its something I wouldnt have thought to add with kingfish. Priced on the higher end of the scale, luckily for me I didnt have to pay.
Amazing place for delicious meals that are beyond anything! Definitely recommend for those looking to splurge and fine dine. Had an amazing degustation with a friend, food was beyond expectations, service was divine! Beautiful ambiance. Pricey but worth every bit!
If you want to go somewhere extra special The French Cafe is the place to go. The food tantalises your palate. I have never tasted anything quite like the smoked butter that is homemade at the cafe. All the herbs are grown in the garden out the back and the service is second to none. A must to dine at.
Fine dining at it's best.
We went to The French Cafe for an end of year work function and weren't disappointed. Of course the food was impeccable but it was the small details that really made the difference.
If you dropped cutlery it was instantly picked up and replaced, someone came to sweep away any crumbs off the table after you'd eaten bread rolls, your umbrella is perfectly folded as you leave and the kitchen is the quietest and most organised I've ever seen.
The French Cafe is a once in a lifetime experience.
