Sometimes, despite everything you just see green…but this time it wasn't a case of envy or jealously -it was of full out leprechaun inspired fun (and literally seeing green shirts and hats galore)!
Florrie McGreals Irish Pub offers the best of both worlds, its right in the heart of one of Auckland’s most lively social arenas! I remember the first time I went there, it was during my first year of Uni and I was catching up with friends (who all insisted it was a great place to meet), when you walk in you actually feel as though you’re in a legitimate Irish pub. The interiors are kitschy (in the best way…of course) and the staff really friendly!
And now we come to St Paddy’s day – though this year’s has passed you have to put it on your list for next year! The whole street comes alive and it’s the best atmosphere (with music and other performances galore – it really gets you in the spirit of having fun with like-minded people out to have a great night). But don’t think that it’s only an option on St Patrick’s Day, every other day of the year Florrie McGreals is a comfortable, relaxed and inviting pub (the fireplace in winter is particularly great on those cold, rainy days).
It sounds silly, but the ease of parking is a huge plus, there is a big lot of cheap parking only a couple of meters away, or parking closer to Takapuna beach (which is probably only a 5 minute walk). It’s on a thriving strip, so you can freely walk to the surrounding bars and restaurants if you so choose. The food is cheap and yummy, and they’ve got a good selection of beers etc.
So go on…press your luck (no, not that four leaf clover you thought you found in primary school and put in a text book…ahem...just me?) and mark down Florrie’s for your next catch up with friends/family for a fun, relaxed night out.
