We had a pleasant lunch here. The food was good and it's priced at a fine-dining level and so I think it's fair to compare this restaurant to the real deal you'd find in Tokyo. The food was excellent by NZ standards but only average compared to what it could be. I'm rating "very good" to recognise it's good on...
Believe this has something to do with Kokako(?). Not up to the motherships standards if that is the case. Bit more grungy aka grimey. Decent coffee obviously and good food just no wow factor to make me go back. Good enough to keep in the memory bank for future though.
Was a bit disappointed they didn't let us order from lunch menu even though we were only ten minutes away from the start of lunch menu. Ordered an omelette which tasted bland and dry.
Coffee was good though.
I had the prawn cocktail, which was ok i suppose, but nothing special. Massively overpriced at $18. It was something I could have whipped up myself in 5 minutes with whatever i had left in my fridge. Just really boring. So yeah, I was pretty disappointed. Won't be going there again.
A nice sunny corner cafe with massive windows and tons of rustic NY charm. We had Egg Florentine and cinnamon brioche - beautiful food. They serve Kokako coffee with just right kick. Will be my new fav spot.
