Dr. Williams is rather quirky, however he does know what he is doing. If you are not going to him for anything aside from ADHD/ADD then I would perhaps recommend a different psychiatrist as he does not have the most empathetic way of coming across. However, his treatment is up to standard and he will explain everything about your treatment and does let you have a choice in your treatment (at least in my case).
Beware of the high cost of consultations, expect to pay more than just your initial consult if he has to contact your GP or anything else as you will get a bill for that as well. You pay high for the ability to see a psychiatrist within the same week you request an appointment.
I found Dr Williams to be a nice guy and easy to talk to, however I informed him I was on Amitriptyline for chronic pain and was experiencing difficulties, as it gave me a very rapid racing heartbeat most nights about 4 hours after taking it. So he came up with another drug that he thought might help with both my chronic pain and my difficulty sleeping called Doxepin or Dosulepin (too long ago too remember now). I had no idea at the time it was the same class of drug.
I was given no advise on how to change from one to the other as I had been on Amitriptyline for about 18 months. So I began by staying on Amitriptyline and then taking a small amount (25mG) of the other (thinking once I was stable on the new drug I would ease off the Amitriptyline) together at night then in 2 nights the full Amitriptyline and 50mG of the other. By about the 3rd of 4th night of this stepping up to the full dose of the new drug, i nearly went through the roof, just utterly hypa and also the heart was really going crazy, it terrified me. So I stopped them altogether and threw them away. Although I liked speaking to Harvey and he was an empathetic listener, I was really frightened at what happened with those pills. I live out of town and it was very difficult to see him again. Was a bit gutted.
overcharges for phone calls, faxes , emails, $880 for x3 5MIN phonecalls x1 letter and x5 txt messages in a 4 week period. Disappointing as prescribing drugs is more favoured than counselling, really bad experiance with this dr harvey as ive been left with large hole in pocket and treated like a drug divert er! .Not good
