A go to place for mussels. Efficient and knowledgeable service. There is seating upstairs and outside on the balcony as well. Good views of the area and great on a sunny day. The indoors is a bit dark. Service stations upstairs and downstairs.
This place is well known for it's mussels, but the pepper sauce on the steak is why I go! It's great if you can get a seat up on the balcony as it's got a great view over Mission Bay. The staff are a little hit and miss but the atmosphere makes up for it.
The mussel pots were very good! I also was impressed they did have foreign beers on tap, Hooegarrden was very tasty
Have been here a number of times but feel it is slowly getting worse.
Recently on Friday night I went with a group of 6 for dinner. Overall the meals had gone down in presentation and my pork belly was dry. The service was terrible with us having to wave at the waiter and get up and go get someone to take our dessert order as they had forgotten. It seemed there were a few foreigners working so communication was difficult.
Was a fan but it's not as good as it used to be
The beauty of this place is the selection of beer. You're not drowned in the usual slim pickings of Heinekin and Corona. At De Fontein they have a wide selection with my personal favourite being 'Hoegaarden'. Some good hearty meals on offer too. The icing on the cake is the location - right outside the iconic Mission Bay fountain overlooking the water.
Had a lovely time here with my husband on New Year's Eve. Despite it being a busy night for them, we were not rushed at all during our meal and we got to enjoy a few of their tasty cocktails.
The food was good pub food with an international flavour and hearty big servings. We were seated on the deck upstairs, with great views of the hustle and bustle below. A good experience.
