Christchurch Airport is the natural gateway to the South Island, which has long been the brand engine room of New Zealand.
It is the busiest and most strategic southern air connection to the world's trade and tourism markets, having welcomed six million passengers in the past year. There is nowhere in the world you can't reach internationally by flying out of Christchurch.
The airport is a major driver of the South Island regional economy, with some 6000 personnel working on the airport campus making it the largest site of employment in the South Island. It is one of the partners in the "South" initiative, which sees all 15 regional tourism organisations working collegially to promote the South Island.

Good airport with handy drop off area outside for relatives dropping or picking up. Inside there's a good range of cafes and food for the size of the airport, never a long wait for security either to get airside. Facilities are clean and there's lots of powerpoints for charging devices!
I traveled couple of times and always had a great experience at Christchurch airport. Its a small airport with easy access to all the facilities you would need at an airport. The shops are excellent, with friendly people always there to help you. The car rental service which we booked was ready for pickup as soon as we landed. Excellent experience.
Always a pleasant experience at this airport whenever we fly. Staff are friendly and helpful, layout is much better now that everything has been redone so it is easy to find where you're going. Good selection of shops and places to eat/drink, and great atmosphere and look overall.
