The scattered outdoor wooden picnic tables at this semi-rural cafe in Waiau Pa, was inviting and enchanting. Calendular Cottage Cafe is an unassuming surprise for an alfresco styled cafe.
This highly frequented cafe offers an impressive dessert and savoury display cabinet. The cute yellow laminated menu offered many standard cafe items at very reasonable prices.
I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken beetroot and haloumi salad with a glass of Hawkes Bay Syrah. The serving sizes were very generous and most gratifying yet the dessert cabinet still beckoned.
My choice of sweet treat was plum tart with cream and it heavenly!
Highly recommended for a lovely weekend country lunch and it’s only 15 minutes from the motorway, just a short distance from Spookers.
With gorgeous outdoor seating in semi rural Karaka, Calendular Cottage Cafe was an absolute treat for an alfresco lunch. This very bustling cafe boasts an impressive dessert display cabinet and the menu was enticing very reasonably price.
We enjoyed the beetroot and haloumi and chicken Caesar salads with delicious espresso. Servings were very generous and satisfying but still we had to try dessert and my choice was plum pie with yoghurt cream and our other choice was caramilk cheesecake. Both were amazing, light and heavenly!
Overall I’d highly recommend visiting Calendular for an out of town lumch!
