Came here for brunch Sunday morning. We found a table with ease which was a surprise and greatly appreciated as they were busy. Had a delicious ice chocolate to start. We then ordered some chips to share which took about 10mins to arrive and were steaming hot, as in we had to wait nearly 10mins for them to cool down and be edible. Same thing happened with my porridge, could not eat it for 10 mins as it was steaming. Better to be too hot than cold but it made us wait with food sitting in front of us. Food was average when we ate it anyway. Not bad but nothing to ride home about.
On the way to work, I decided to stop into Melba Cafe for a hot breakfast and was treated to delicious eggs Benedict with Manuka smoked bacon and berry smoothie.
Food delivery was impressive even they were busy and the service was fantastic.
Being Winter, I appreciated them keeping the doors closed and heaters were on to warm the environment.
Everything was delicious! I can't really fault either of our meals to be honest. I wish I had got the eggs benedict though, those hash cakes were amazing. The iced coffee was slightly bitter but that was a plus for me, it was so good and felt like a real coffee.
Fantastic suburban cafe just buzzing with locals, stimulating chatter, sideward glances at gorgeous dishes of food being served and amazing coffee to be enjoyed. Highly recommended with super friendly staff and delicious breakfast and lunch menu offerings. It's a must visit for when you're next in Ellerslie!
