Booked in for a weekend tour here with my daughter and we had a blast! They were really accommodating of her (she was by far the smallest and was allowed up front every time there was something to see) and we got sooooo many freebies! A must see before it closes :(
Our guide was amazing and very entertaining and we ended up with loads of chocolate to take home but were a little disappointed we didn't actually get to see the factory in operation. That said it is a wonderland for kids and ours was enthralled the whole way through and didn't stop talking about it for days afterwards!
The tour didn't quite live up to our expectations however the guide was absolutely lovely and full of facts about chocolate and the factory. We stayed for afternoon tea at the cafe afterward, and although pricey the coffee and food was excellent! Parking is a nightmare, there is only on street pay-and-display parking and you're lucky to find one that's within a 10 minute walk.
I used the bookme site and was $11.00 for the tour usually it is $22 for a adult and some places were closed off so paying full price not worth it, and there is a 15 to 20 minute self tour for $5 dollars more digital and you can take your time as well. Parking can be a issue so have to pay and display and the $1.00 a hour one is few minute is a few minute walk away.
We did the tour with two adults and 3 kids, the kids absolutely loved it, it was their favourite thing we did in Dunedin! They got to make their own chocolate and lots of free chocos along the way to take home. Was also a great surprise towards the end of the tour which I won't give away! My son bought some cool souvenirs from the shop too. Price for a family pass was very reasonable too
Great tour, chocolate tasting plus choc bars included. On a side note children can not be picked up so if you have a little one be aware they must walk by themselves at all times due to health & safety. My 2 1/2 year old managed to walk around it no problems though. Great tour guide too, she was good.
Fun tour and interesting to see everything in action. It'll be a pity if this goes when the factory shuts down. Kids from about 4 could probably enjoy this as it's not an overly long tour and there's always some chocolate to bite on
