I dealt with the council regarding a LIM report and building code matters. When I visited their customer service desks in person my experience was really good - nice offices (really nice...), friendly staff and fair short queues.
Contrast that when calling though - a 40 minute wait time to get through to a customer service rep is pretty bad.
Auckland Council is very good when it comes to communication. When there is an event going on in town, we are all the time advised on time. They have also great farm days each years in Ambury park, it is all the time awesome.
The Auckland Council Call Centre is so helpful. I rung because I was annoyed about the state of the water feature outside our local Library. It was full of rubbish and looked disgusting. I was moaning to a friend about it and she told me to stop moaning and do something about it....... so I did!! I called the Auckland Council, they took the details, and one week later, I've noticed that the water feature is sparkling clean and looks awesome again. The council cops a lot of flack, but after this, I think they're doing alright! :-)
