(I'm inserting this here after writing this review) - If you are new to Yoga and confused about the range of strains of Yoga, whilst there is a yoga practice for everyone, if you are drawn to Ashtanga then I truly recommend you try this studio.
As a student of this wonderful Ashtanga studio and having sampled a range of studios around the world, this is absolutely one of the best I have been lucky enough to experience.
What makes this studio so good?
Many studios are centred around the teacher and their particular approach to teaching, profile in the Ashtanga world and of course their individual personalities. However, this studio I almost feel is the opposite, the teachers here, led by Andre, place the focus on the user guiding their own practice and not enforcing their own will onto the students practice.
Ashtanga as Guruji taught us, is household yoga, meaning it should fit around responsibilities at home. Many studios have an almost competitive edge where students are rewarded for commitment and intensity (I have certainly experienced this first hand). The teachers here are more in line with Gurujis approach, no judgement on your level of, and commitment to, the practice at certain points. We all go through natural peaks and troughs with the practice and they appreciate this.
On a more practical level (but still with the household yoga theme), another great aspect of this studio is how flexible the class times and teachers are. There are classes for all levels morning and night ... Led class for beginners at 6pm on a Tuesday night but want to just practice Mysore? No problem, practice on your own at the back. Love this freedom.
