Extremely unpleasant incident today at Auckland airport. Pouring with rain and after waiting for ages for the non existent transfer bus we were worried about our connection. Asked the Alert taxi driver who was next in the taxi rank to take us to the international terminal. He was clearly unhappy and said it would be $20. After we were in the car and travelling, he said it would be an extra $10 for the"airport toll". We are kiwis and my husband disputed this "toll". Driver then said an extra $5. He then argued about this the whole way when my husband said he couldn't change the price once we were travelling. And there was no toll. Driver then threatened to leave us halfway, still in the rain. We were appalled at such shifty behaviour and unpleasant manner. He practically threw the bags out of the car onto the road. I'm sorry but this driver was an appalling advertisement for your company.
Would like to review ALERT Taxis and warn others not to use this company. I booked an ALERT cab last week for an early morning hospital appointment. I booked it the evening before and was told I'd be called when it was on its way. The following morning there was no call and the taxi failed to show. 5 minutes after it was due I rang to find out where it was, I was put on hold and then told that they didn't have any cabs in my area at that time. I had to make other last minute arrangements to get to the hospital which was very stressful. Later that day my husband rang ALERT to make a compliant and was told someone would respond within three days. However he heard nothing. He made another phone call the following week and the operator couldn't find a record of the complaint and didn't know what he was talking about. So much for service. I will NEVER use this company again.
