John Hickey is a barrister and lawyer with over 25 years experience in the legal industry, including 21 years as a sole practitioner.

Any kind of change, loss or transition can be overwhelming - I help clients safely work through the challenging and tricky emotions that might come up during these experiences. Counselling helps 'change' become 'opportunity': a call to make new sense of the world, cultivate richer self-understanding, and foster growth in behaviour and relationships.

I pay deep non-judgmental attention to clients' stories. With an understanding that people exist in a network of relationships, I utilise various therapeutic techniques to help clients come to their own realisations. I offer short-term goal-oriented counselling and longer-term therapy, or a combination of the two. I am open to engaging with clients' unique philosophical or spiritual perspectives.

Background and Experience
I am a lecturer on the Bachelor of Applied Counselling programme at the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), where I lecture on Counselling and Human Development. I have experience counselling across cultures in the international tertiary education sector, and in the community with clients from various backgrounds at the Citizens Advice Bureau.

With over two decades  of experience in servicing customer needs, Raj is fluent in English, Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi. This enables him to well serve the needs of his large and ethnically diverse client base.

Specialising in both the residential and commercial aspects of real estate, Raj has been in the industry for many years and has prior experience operating a property management business. He is well known to investors and his primary goal is to create value for both sellers and buyers through his ethical and diligent approach.

Raj is a quick and adept problem solver who can think 'outside the square' and appreciates that no property or situation is the same. He also recognises the varying needs of each client, who in turn are deserving of a positive and fresh approach.

Raj's natural confidence and professionalism is further enhanced by the team at Ray White Universal, whose enthusiasm and readiness to 'go the extra mile' in their pursuit of customer service, matches perfectly with Raj's business ethos.
