<p>Founded in 1979, Te Whare Ra Wines is the oldest boutique winery in Marlborough., and is home to the oldest vines in the region. The name, that translates from Maori to mean "The House in the Sun". Owned by winemakers, Anna &amp; Jason Flowerday, Te Whare Ra are proud makers of some of the best wines in the Marlborough region. Our wines are produced using a combination of organic and biodynamic practices. Yields are kept low, and all the fruit is hand picked and hand-sorted. We take pride in the fact that our wines are made with minimal intervention, specifically set up for small batch winemaking. Our tasting room is open from Oct till March with tasting times at 11am, 12 noon and 2pm - Booking recommended. With a winemaker as your guide; you get a close look at the wine production process as your winemaker educates your mind and your palate from vineyard to bottle!  Exclusive to Hop n Grape, we go beyond the cellar door so you can sample the best  straight from the barrel.  You can ask all those curly questions, and capture the best behind-the-scenes winery photos, so you can dazzle your friends back home with your NZ Wine Know-How!  Our full day tour starts with a behind-the-scenes look at a modern-day winery. Youll either taste grape juice fresh from the press; sample a young Pinot Noir from the barrel; or try a freshly filtered Sauvignon Blanc.

Next, well get up close and personal with the Marlborough wine region and youll taste any delight that isnt tied down. In our full day tour you visit 4-6 wineries which can include local breweries, with over 40 cellar doors to choose from, if youve got a favourite well do our best to get you there.  Lunch at a vineyard restaurant is always a highlight.  There is opportunity to do a Cheese tasting, Olive oil tasting or a visit to Makana Chocolate Shop.

With your new sense of freedom and our prime location means outings to shopping, library, church and usual routines can be maintained and may even be more accessible. A full activities and outings calendar creates fabulous opportunities for fun and laughter with friends as you try something new or visit somewhere not seen before.

Our 24 hour Rest Home wings comprises of 35 larger than standard single rooms, each with ensuite, private phone and television access. Also provided is a large lounge for activities and entertainment as well as smaller intimate lounge areas for visiting family and friends.

Quality and continuity of care for all Residents is assured by Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses, working with and supervising Caregivers who have been suitably trained in the care of the Elderly.
