Our Grand Traverse scenic flights promise an incredible view of the mighty Franz and Fox Glaciers and rugged Westland National Park before traversing Mount Cook to explore the vast Mount Cook National Park. Every seat a window seat  get the big picture! Your friendly pilot will provide an informative and enjoyable commentary in addition to all passengers receiving the Air Safaris multi-language flight-guide.

The Grand Traverse is approximately 50 minutes flying time.  Allow one hour total duration.

Trans-Divide Flights:
With Lake Tekapo a short flight away Air Safaris offers you the opportunity to fly over the main divide of the Southern Alps for a 12 day excursion. This scenic flight gives you the opportunity to see what is on the other side without the necessity to complete the 6+ hour drive between Franz Josef and Lake Tekapo. On the Eastern side at Lake Tekapo you can enjoy the hot pools, go ski-ing, ice skating, curling ( winter only), there are also great walking and mountain biking activities available.
During the summer season the Trans-Divide operates two daily flights leaving at 9 am and 1 pm. Trans-divide trips are operated as an on demand basis during the winter season. Minimum 4 passengers required.

Air Safaris operates personalised charter flights throughout the South Island, and to North Island destinations on request. The company specializes in charter flights between Christchurch, Mount Cook, and Queenstown, and excursions to Milford Sound. Tranz-Divide half day excursion flights between Tekapo and Franz Josef are a popular option. Cross the Southern Alps by plane in less than 30 minutes and experience the attractions on the other side.
