Welcome to the Shirley McDouall School of Dance. We have proudly been providing lessons, and nurturing a love of dance in our pupils for over 50 years. Our pupils are trained in the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) Syllabus in Ballet, and in Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (I.S.T.D) Syllabus in Modern. 
We also teach International Dance Teachers Association (I.D.T.A) Medal and Ballet tests. 
Many students have graduated into careers in dance, either as Professional Dancers or Teachers of Dance. 
At Shirley McDouall School of Dance we believe that dance is an art form that knows no boundaries, and can be enjoyed by anyone. We offer the following classes: 
- Junior School (Fairy Ballet, 3 and a half years to Grade 1 R.A.D)
- Senior School Ballet (Grade 2 - Advanced 2 R.A.D)
- Modern I.S.T.D Classes
- Contemporary
- Adult Classes (Both day and evening classes)
- I.T.D.A Medal Tests

The Shirley McDouall School of Dance offer classes in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Tap and Adult. The school has been operating successfully in Whanganui for over 60 years. A number of students have moved onto careers in dance with many hundreds of students passing through the school. Students are trained in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabus in Ballet and in Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabus in Modern.
