https://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/ We are New Zealand's Crown Research Institute (CRI) for our land environment.Our scientists undertake world-class science focused on New Zealands biodiversity, biosecurity, land resources and environment. We work with other Crown Research Institutes, universities, businesses and the wider science system to create impactful, relevant and useful research. Our research supports government decisions and policies local, regional and national. Our data, solutions, technology, products and services are used by primary industries to underpin more sustainable land and resource use. We work closely with iwi and Maori groups to support their goals for their land, and we incorporate science and matauranga Maori into our research. We support public and community aspirations for our land environment through stakeholder engagement and citizen science input. At our eight sites we also curate almost a third of New Zealands Nationally Significant Databases and Collections reference collections of biological material, cultural knowledge, online databases and tools. These resources are used by our scientists and others across New Zealand and around the world.

Manaaki Whenua  Landcare Research is one of seven Crown Research Institutes (CRI's) formed in 1992. CR'Is function as independent companies but are owned by, and accountable to, the New Zealand Government.

Landcare Research's core purpose is to drive innovation in the management of terrestrial biodiversity and land resources.

Five Star Paints Ltd was established in 1988 and is a recognised manufacturer of paints and importer of market related products for our customers. In April 2006 Five Star Paints Ltd achieved the gold standard in the Envrio-Mark certification, which is an environmental management system which is externally audited annually and marketed throughout New Zealand by Landcare Research.

The Five Products paint range includes popular brands like Star Tempera Poster Paint , NZACRYL Student Acrylic, Apex Acrylic for the Professional Artists, Creative Paint 3D Effect , and our cosmetic grade Face Paint.  In the dye and ink range we have Ezi-dye (Ready to Use) , Liquid Dye (Concentrate), Water Soluble Dye (Powder), Startex Textile Ink, Artists Printing Ink water based printing ink and the widely renowned Flint Ink in both water and oil based printing inks.  We also manufacture and import a range of mediums and glues, from powder versions to PVAs and pastes including powder and/or fluorescent paint for Paint Parties.
