Chris and Sue Jolly moved to Taupo from their farming business in the Manawatu to Taupo in 1978 to start a fishing  sports shop business. This led to friendships in the charter boat and heli hunting industries and before long, their first launch Facilita was purchased and Chris Jolly Outdoors started its journey.  The last 35 years have been an action packed ride leading now to 5 boats on Lake Taupo, guided fly fishing, hiking, hunting and their latest product guided biking and water shuttle.

Over the years they have entertained royalty- English and Dutch, diplomats, VIPs, movie celebrities and put together packages to suit the most discerning clientele. They have been the preferred outdoors supplier to Huka Lodge for the last 30 years.  It has been an exciting few years with new challenges and products making this company well respected in the tourism industry.

Son Simon is now the operations manager- skipper/hunting guide/video producer along with his chocolate lab Charlie Brown who is very much part of the team.  Daughter Penny has been the advertising guru, social media expert and a great creator of branding and design for the company.

Along with some very loyal and long standing staff they all love sharing the outdoors and helping people enjoy the beautiful part of the country that is Lake Taupo and its surrounds.

Babyspace provides quality infant/toddler care and education. Both the indoor and outdoor environments are impressive, offering learning within a large natural garden setting, plenty of grass to crawl on, paths to explore, fruit trees to inspect combined with a enormous sandpit and climbing area. Our environment offers children a play area reminiscent of their childhood, before artificial grass and static equipment became the standard at playgrounds. It is one of the many aspects of BabySpace enjoyed by adults and children.

Established in 2008, Lynda Richards and Chris Barnett are the proud owner of BabySpace. Lynda had 26 years of experience in the early childhood profession which, combined with the building and business experience from Chris, developed a good reputation and excellent standard of care in a much needed area. 

Both the indoor and outdoor environments are designed to allow children to independently explore, discover and play. The indoor play space is warm and inviting encouraging the children to engage with their environment and the people in it. Parents are enthusiastic about the spacious well resourced play spaces and delighted with the large warm peaceful sleep area.

Colman Designs is a local business started by father and son in 2018. From their dedicated workshop they manufacture residential and rural farm gates, beautiful birdhouses, Garden Planters, Outdoor furniture, wooden toys and a range of bespoke wooden items.

Working full time during the day and then working long into the night Craig and Chris knew they were passionate about working with wood. As time passed and customers kept coming back for their work they decided to keep building and creating new designs with the goal of making it a full time business.

A few Years on from that first gate and birdhouse, they have a dedicated workshop on a block of land in Manawatu where all their designs are made and Colman Designs was born.
