Kia ora, and welcome to the Southern Regional Health School. When your child is unwell with a serious sickness or injury, it may mean their attendance at school drops badly and then also their learning. Our job is to stop them from falling behind their classmates.
Set up in 1999 we are one of three state-funded Health Schools and our school covers the whole of the South Island, Stewart Island and The Chathams. We have teachers based at key places throughout the Island who can give your child the support needed to keep up their learning. We can teach in your home, in a Learning Support Centre [we have several, in major towns], in a hospital, or over the internet â whichever is best for the student.
We work closely with caregivers, schools and health professionals to make sure that each studentâÂÂÂÂs Independent Learning Plan is matched carefully to their existing school programme and to their medical condition so that transition back to their usual school is as smooth as possible.
Our hand-picked team of professionals is well equipped with the skills needed to plan a personal learning programme for each student within the New Zealand Curriculum. We offer one-to-one delivery that helps us meet our goal of giving your child âÂÂÂÂhigh quality learning experiences regardless of health condition or geographical location.âÂÂÂÂ
Given that the purpose of our school is to get your child back to regular school, we hope you wonâÂÂÂÂt be with us for too long!
