ASSESSING, SCANNING and TREATING SUSPICIOUS MOLES & MELANOMA -
New Zealand has one of the highest incidences of malignant melanoma in the world, and the incidence is doubling every 10 years. Melanoma is an aggressive skin cancer and can metastasize (spread) very quickly.
You should have your skin checked regularly by a doctor with qualifications in dermoscopy, to detect melanoma and skin cancer accurately at an early and treatable stage – it is a fact that early removal of melanoma saves lives.
Book an appointment for a full skin cancer check, mole scan and digitally recorded mole map with Dr Brian Wills, who has the Australian Diploma of Dermoscopy.
At MoleMedic, after you have been assessed, you will be scanned with a new and clinically proven skin imaging technology called SIAscopy. On your next visit, results can be compared to the previous scans.
You can make an appointment with MoleMedic without a referral from your own GP. Following your consultation, a full report will be made available to your GP.
WHY MOLEMEDIC?
*Your consultation is with an experienced and qualified local doctor with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and melanoma, rather than with a nurse or technician.
*Digital Scanning is painless and to a depth of 2mm of the mole
*You will see the images of your scan onscreen during your appointment
*Leave the appointment knowing the results of your scan
*Rescanning and follow up offered in a timeframe suited to your results, not a mandatory 6 months or one year.
*Removal of mole/s (if necessary) is offered by Dr Wills - who has extensive experience in advanced techniques such as grafts and flaps, in order to give the best cosmetic result
ARE YOU AT RISK?
Life Style: Over exposure to the sun dramatically increases risk. Sunburn in childhood increases the melanoma risk significantly.
Family History: If your parents, grandparents or siblings have had a skin cancer or melanoma you are at increased risk.
Skin Type: If you are fair skinned and sunburn easily you are most at risk of skin cancer.
Pre-Cancerous Lesions: Some moles, especially those called a dysplastic naevus can progress to cancer and should be checked regularly
