The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is New Zealand's oldest and most respected animal welfare organisation , providing service to the animals since 1883.
In the Auckland region, the Society's Animal Village at Mangere attends to the needs of over 20, 000 animals per year. It's Animal Hospital helps thousands of cases of neglect and suffering through ignorance or circumstance.
Twenty-four hours every day, 365 days a year, SPCA Inspectors help numerous animals in distress and investigate countless cases of animal cruelty.
The Society lobbies to improve the environment to provide a safer world for animals and educates children to appreciate the real value of animal life.
The work of the SPCA is far-reaching and never-ending. It touches families and animals alike. It is achieved without Government funding (a fact that surprises most), totally relying on donations to allow its valuable work to continue.
