Coast New Zealand was established by Nicola and Alex Webster in 2004. Having observed America's Cup yacht racing on Auckland's Hauraki Gulf from several uncomfortable spectator boats, Alex developed the Marine Bean - literally a marine beanbag - through a design process that involved trial and error and quite a lot of lounging about in prototypes.

While still popular on yachts, the Marine Bean has since found its real home ashore in homes, hotels and resorts in New Zealand and around the world and remains our best-selling product.
