Waitemata District Health Board operates North Shore Hospital in Takapuna and Waitakere Hospital in West Auckland. The DHB provides emergency, acute, medical, surgical, maternity, community health and mental health services.

It also provides child rehabilitation & respite at the Wilson Centre, forensic psychiatric services at the Mason Clinic, school dental services and Community Alcohol and Drug Services. Waitemata is the biggest health board in New Zealand.
