The music is smooth, the drinks are first rate and the crowd eclectic and friendly. Retro wallpaper and dark wooden floors create a sophisticated ambience and it's easy to see why Cartel was recently shortlisted as one the country's best new bars. The delectable cocktails, extensive range of fine wines and single malts is one reason why many find themselves not leaving this hidden escape for the city until the wee small hours of the morning (closing time 5am). And for those who have a particular favourite tipple personalised bottle keeps are available. Cartel is at its best as a late night/early morning lounge bar. The tiny space fills up after midnight and stays open until 5am. Food is available from the kitchen upstairs at Squid Row, but the real reason to come here is to linger longer than you plan to with a series of well-constructed cocktails.
