Alexander Voice Works is run by Suryagita Cox, a qualified teacher of the Alexander Technique and experienced voice coach.
The Alexander Technique helps you to alleviate pain, muscular tension and stress. Through individual lessons you learn to move with freedom and a sense of “alive relaxation” in daily activities. Unhelpful postural habits will gradually be replaced by easy movement in whatever you do – in the workplace, playing sport, music or doing household chores.
The Technique helps with many conditions: back pain (research in the British Medical Journal August 2008 shows that it is scientifically proven to be effective for easing chronic lower back pain) neck problems and tension headaches stress OOS (changing the way you sit at a computer can prevent injuries to the hands, wrists and shoulders) asthma and breathing difficulties.
It enhances performance and co-ordination skills and improves quality of life.
“I can honestly say that having Alexander Technique lesson with Suryagita has changed my body and my life around….My asthma has vastly improved and my posture is a million times better. And I feel good about myself and confident in my body when I move and walk”. (Alan Buck, Town Planner).
“I have worked with many holistic practitioners and I am confident that Suryagita is in the top rank… I am sure those who engage with her work will benefit”. (Professor Bob Sang, London South Bank University.
Suryagita also specialises in voice coaching and singing lessons, giving individual and group lessons to help you to improve your breathing, strengthen and free your voice. She teaches presentation skills which help you to develop communication skills and give talks with skill and confidence.
She also teaches singing which will help you to use your body as a free, resonating instrument, to find your own unique sound, increase your vocal range, free your breathing and develop tone, expression and beauty in your voice, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced professional. You will learn to sing as a soloist or as part of a group or choir, harmonise, hold a part and develop rhythm skills.
“Suryagita’s voice lessons were a revelation. Her coaching extended my vocal range considerably…I can now consider songs I never thought I could tackle”. (Alan Cuncliffe, Manager).
“If you’re interested in creating more vocal ease and comfort for teaching, daily communication, pleasure or performance, I recommend Suryagita’s voice workshops to you. Her ability to facilitate learning with students of diverse backgrounds is exceptional”. (Valerie Wycoff, Singing Teacher).
